DESCRIPTION: village bungalow, located next to host family's homeLOCATION: Ohu Village, 35 minutes delightful scenic drive through light rainforest inland from Madang town.ROOMS: one guest bungalow with 3 rooms, each with woven mats on bamboo bed frames, bamboo furniture, mosquito nets and kerosine lamps provided.BATHROOMS: you will shower by standing under a small waterfall in the rainforest (something to write home about!). There is a guest toilet near your bungalowMEALS: village food cooked and served in the traditional way, boiled spring water or coconut juice to drinkGUEST FACILITIES: there is a telephone in the villageACTIVITIES AND TOURS: (no extra charge for guests)
- 20 minute walk to beautiful Dumeh Falls (100m drop) situated in a picture-perfect forested gully.
- wander freely through the delightful Ohu Butterfly Conservation Area which has been systematically planted with hibiscus and other flowering shrubs favoured by various indigenous butterfly species, to encourage them to reproduce. Stretch out your arm and stand still, and magnificently coloured butterflies including the Queen Alexandra Birdwing will alight on your hand.
